With a boom in endurance sports, more and more races are being organised. Similarly with the rapidly growing interest in the IR and all the excellent facilities that will be offered, more and more events are expected to be organised, covering other areas besides sports.

The Recent Straits Times article, June 20, 2008 carried these news:

         Endurance races run into litany of complaints

• The number of complaints about shoddy organisation has risen in tandem.
• National runner and remisier Vivian Tang, 37, said that poorly-organisd races are the norm, rather than the exception.
• Clueless race marshals
• Singapore Athletic Association (SAA) president Loh Lin Kok recently questioned the credibility of some event organisers, who he felt were more interested in making a quick buck than holding a proper race, and has called for regulation through the SAA. He said: "There needs to be a system and there needs to be accountability."
• Athletes, meanwhile, said the reason they are peeved is that these races are not mere Sunday jaunts.
• "Organisers should ensure that the basics are in place."
